The Local Authority Designated Officer has responsibility for the management and oversight of individual cases, providing advice and guidance to employers and voluntary organisations, liaising with the police and other agencies and monitoring the progress of cases to ensure they are dealt with in as timely a manner as possible, consistent with a thorough and fair process. Each agency which employs people to work with children is required to have a Designated Officer who should liaise with the Local Authority Designated Officer when a concern arises about a member of their workforce.
