About us

Our aim is to work together so that all children in Hull are safe from abuse and harm, and are safe in our communities. The Hull Safeguarding Children Board is made up of senior people from all the key organisations that work with children, young people and their families.

We are responsible for –

  • co-ordinating local work to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
  • contribute to the local children’s service plan
  • communicate the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
  • provide advice
  • undertake serious case reviews
  • co-ordinating child death reviews
  • developing policies and procedures on: Action where there are concerns, including thresholds
  • co-ordinating safeguarding training for people who come into contact with children, young people and families

Hull Safeguarding Children Board Constitution 2014

The HSCB has a range of roles and statutory functions. These are set out in statute (The Children Act 2004), supported by regulation (The Local Safeguarding Children Boards Regulations 2006) and statutory guidance (Working Together to Safeguard Children, 2013).

This Hull Safeguarding Children Board constitution draws upon this statutory framework and also upon research into good practice by LSCBs (Good Practice by Local Safeguarding Children Boards, Ofsted, 2011).
