The Hull city psychological service

Educational psychologists (EPs)

We are a team of educational psychologists who have an extensive knowledge of child development, learning, behaviour and emotional or mental health needs. We are practitioner psychologists registered by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and we follow British Psychological Society (BPS) best practice guidelines.  Within our team we have a range of specialist interests including -

  • autistic spectrum disorders
  • hearing impairment
  • supervision
  • therapeutic working
  • family therapy

What we do

EPs provide a psychological perspective regarding the education and welfare of children and young people aged up to 25 years. We work with children, young people, their families and those who work with and for them. Together we facilitate positive change and we do this by working with individual children and young people, with groups or at a whole service or school level. We deliver a core offer as outlined below. This core offer is ‘free’ to those receiving the service and is commissioned and paid for by Hull City Council to fulfil its statutory duties in relation to children and young people with Special Educational Need and Disability (SEND).

EPs also take part in early prevention and intervention work and offer a wide range of therapeutic support models that promote mental health and emotional wellbeing for children and adults. Schools or settings can commission EP services as part of the traded schools services to work on identified issues and deliver expert solutions. The Hull City psychological service is fully committed to delivering the highest quality of services at all times to all client groups.
