A council surveyor will carry out a free inspection of your home and report back on any needed repairs and improvements such as -

  • loose chimney pots
  • leaking gutters
  • boiler replacement
  • floor replacement
  • damp proof course

Improvement work -

  • windows
  • roof covering
  • rewiring

Decent homes standard (subject to property failing a decent homes standard survey) -

  • central heating
  • improving insultation
  • replacing bathroom suites or kitchen units
  • improving home security

Financial assistance

If you are eligible to receive any other financial assistance to help towards the cost of the work, we will help you to complete the application forms.
If you are not eligible you may consider a cash back loan of up to £5000 (which can be repaid over three years) through the Hull and East Yorkshire Credit Union’s cash back loans scheme. The scheme pays a cash back refund of the interest you have paid on the fully repaid loan, once the work has been completed.
