Register Office Ceremonies at The Guildhall

Our register office ceremony room is located in The Guildhall. The Guildhall is in the city centre on Alfred Gelder Street, near Queens Gardens. The Guildhall is a prestigious historic building, providing an impressive setting for you to share your special day with your family and friends.

On arrival your guests will gather in the Tapestry Room, a room which displays a tapestry made in colourful and varied stitch showing Hull over the past 700 years - before moving into the room where your ceremony will take place.

Our ceremony room is itself is a museum room boasting a collection of historical and maritime memorabilia. There have been a number of improvements made to our ceremony room for 2015 in which the layout has been changed to provide a longer aisle and improved backdrop for photographs.

After your ceremony you will be able to enjoy having photographs on the steps of the building's imposing entrance as well as in others settings such as the beautiful Queens Gardens or the Wilberforce Gardens at the rear of Wilberforce House in the museum quarter on Little High Street which are only short distance away.

There is parking for your ceremony car on Hanover Square, down the side of The Guildhall (before the barriers). Pay and display parking for guests is available in the Lowgate car park opposite The Guildhall and on Alfred Gelder Street down the right hand side of the building or Guildhall Road on the left, adjacent to Queens Gardens.

Choosing to have your ceremony in our room at The Guildhall means that you can choose your ceremony from a selection available. You can also make your ceremony more personal by including additional readings and selecting your own music to be played.

Ceremonies are available in this room Monday to Saturday.

Ceremonies can also be offered in other prestigious rooms in The Guildhall, as the building is licensed as a building approved for the purpose of marriage and civil partnership, although as separate room hire fee may be applicable.

Hull Register Office - The Wilson Centre

You can opt to have a very simple legal ceremony in our designated room at the Wilson Centre. The ceremony offered is basic but still meets all legal requirements. We are unable to offer additional readings and music at the Wilson Centre.

If selecting this option the party must comprise of just the couple and two witnesses only. The room used is only small and therefore for health and safety reasons we are unable to permit any guests into the room.

As this room is a working office, and used on a daily basis for the registration of births and deaths it is not possible to book this room several months in advance. Ceremonies in this room are available at selected times Monday to Thursday.
