Employment support for ex-Armed Forces personnel

Employment support for Veterans' of the armed Forces, Reservists and their immediate family members

The work club is situated within Londesborough Barracks and is open for appointments Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am - 4pm.

The club offers help and support with job searching, careers advice and has strong links with other service providers within Hull offering help and support with welfare, education, training and self employment.

Employment support from other organisations

Arrow  The Royal British Legion provides details of getting into work after leave the Forces including training, job vacancies, interview preparation and a guide to starting your own business.
 
Arrow Regular Forces Employment Association helps men and women of all ranks, leaving the Armed Forces to find and to remain in employment throughout their working lives,

Self employment support from other organisations

Arrow  Be the Boss provides funding, training and mentoring support to UK Services leavers on how to run a successful small business.
 
Arrow HM Revenue & Customs has a lot of support for people who are going self employed. Their short course are free.
 
Arrow Business in You start up loans scheme offers loans of around £2,500, as well as access to expert support to help develop a business plan.
 
Arrow Business Link can offer an on-line service to support new business start-up, and help existing businesses expand and improve. The website has many sources of information to assist businesses including links to training and seminars.
 
Arrow Jobcentre Plus has developed a new enterprise allowance to help people become self employed. Applicants must be claiming Jobseekers Allowance for a minimum of 13 weeks and not be on the work programme. Ask your personal adviser for more information.

Other support available to Armed Forces personnel and veterans

After leaving the forces, the transition back to civilian life can present real challenges for some people. Here in Hull, organisations including Hull City Council, NHS and Job Centre have pledged to support those who need it by signing a Charter.

Help with housing, employment, health and welfare are just some of the issues that organisations across Hull can help you with.
