Introductory (welcome) events for new school governors

The purpose of the event is to provide information and advice on what becoming a school governor involves.

The session will provide support to new governors to help you understand -

  • the role of the local authority
  • the role of the governors’ team
  • essential documents
  • the termly agenda and meeting procedure
  • the realities of being a governor

In addition, each governor is provided with an induction pack, including -

  • model agenda
  • names and addresses of fellow governors
  • information relevant to governors’ school
  • committee leaflets
  • glossary of educational terms
  • details of key contacts
