Customer Service Excellence Standard 2010 Awarded by the Government

Hull’s Public Protection Department which consists of Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Licensing has been awarded the Customer Service Excellence Standard.

To be recognised as achieving Customer Service Excellence applicants must be successfully assessed in five categories. The Standard has replaced the Charter Mark, which the department previously held.

Star  Commended for our excellent approach to tackling unemployment 2010 at the Centre for Local Economic Strategies
Hull’s Grow scheme has been commended for its approach towards tackling unemployment. Grow is now well established and has assisted over 70 per cent of people to get back into employment.

The Centre for Local Economic Strategies is the only membership-based organization in the UK dedicated to economic development, regeneration and local governance.

Winner of the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents Gold Award 2010 at the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents Awards 2010

The award shows our commitment to protecting the health and safety of employees and others. They introduced the scheme to recognise organisations that are committed to good health and safety.

The RoSPA Awards encourage organisations to develop good health and safety management systems.

Winner of the second place Investing in Skills Award 2010 at the European Enterprise Awards 2010

Hull came second in the final of the recent European Enterprise Awards. The award was won in the Investing in Skills category. Hull was short listed for its 'Pride of Hull' submission.

The awards recognise excellence in promoting entrepreneurship and small businesses at local, regional, national and international level.

Winner of The Commissioner’s Award at The Compact Awards 2009

Hull was awarded a top national accolade in recognition for its partnership working for the third consecutive year.

Our Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) One Hull picked up the Commissioner’s Award in recognition of ‘exceptional achievement and commitment’ in developing the ONE HULL Compact as a framework for good practice across all sectors. The involvement of the private sector particularly impressed the judges.

The prestigious award is the highest commendation given for partnership working. The award was presented to One Hull by Sir Bert Massie CBE Commissioner for the Compact.

Winner of the Enterprising Britain Competition in the Yorkshire and Humber region 2009

The Hull enterprise partnership is aimed at pre-start up businesses to provide support, including free business workshops, one-to-one mentoring and support with funding applications for local employers in the private and social enterprise sector and people considering self employment.

The project is delivered through a city-wide partnership of four voluntary and community sector organisations including the nationally recognised social enterprise charity, the Goodwin Development Trust.

Over the last three years, the council and its partners have developed the capacity to deliver major integrated regeneration programmes, working together to develop an economic vision and strategy for Hull.
