Hull accredited tenants scheme

If you are a private tenant and you pay your rent on time, take good care of your property and don’t cause disruption for your neighbours, then you deserve to receive recognition.

As an accredited tenant, you’ll have a distinct advantage over other tenants looking for a property as landlords look to rent to responsible people.

How to apply

If you would like to apply for accreditation, please complete the application form below -

You can also get an application form by calling 300 300 or visiting -

What happens next

Once we have received your application and with your consent, we will -

  • request references from any landlords you have held a tenancy with in the last three years

Reference checks will be completed within four working days but to avoid any delays, please let your current and previous landlords know that we will be contacting them.

  • speak to our antisocial behaviour, council tax and housing benefit teams
  • run a basic credit check

We only look at issues that directly reflect what sort of tenant the applicant is. We do not look into a person’s employment history or issues that do not affect a tenancy.

If you are successful

We will invite you to have your photograph taken so that we can issue you with a photo membership card. You can show your membership card to prospective landlords to prove that you are accredited. Each card is valid for one year and has an individual membership number. The final decision as to whether a tenancy is offered remains with the landlord.

Probationary accreditation

If you have had problems with a tenancy in the past, we may award you with probationary accreditation for six months. During this time we will give you help and support towards becoming fully accredited.
