Complaining about a councillor

The Council has adopted a code of conduct which describes the standards of behaviour that the Community may expect of those holding the office of a Member of Council. This includes elected Members of Council and individuals who are co-opted onto the Council to sit on Council Committees as "Co-opted members".

There is a code of conduct which all members must comply with which includes instructions relating to -

  • treating people with respect
  • treating all people equally
  • not bringing the Council into disrepute
  • not abusing their position for their own advantage
  • disclosing personal and financial interests

The code cannot deal with complaints relating to -

  • political decisions
  • people employed by the Council
  • matters relating to Councillors prior to being elected
