2016 Revised Strategic Flood Risk Assessment

We commissioned the original Strategic Flood Risk Assessment in 2007. Since then our understanding of flood risk and the way we can model it has improved. We have now produced this revised version.

The SFRA is crucial for those submitting planning applications to us.

The full document and accompanying figures are available below, but developers and applicants will find the following of special interest -

• Figure 13 gives details used for the exception test and as guidance for which standing advice to use
• Figure 14 provides information for the Sequential Test
• Figure 15 gives details on requirements for the place of safety

The SFRA is crucial for the long term development of the city. 95 per cent of Hull lies in the flood plains of the River Hull and/or River Humber. This assessment helps us choose appropriate locations for new development, which should be designed to protect against the risk of flooding. It also provides guidance to developers and investors as the city continues to grow.
