Road and path repairs

Our services

We are responsible for the maintenance of roads, footways and verges within the adopted public highway.

Our highway inspectors regularly check the city's roads and paths for defects, including potholes.

We carry out repairs through our own teams or by employing private contractors. We plan our major maintenance on roads and paths from surveys, by using engineering judgement and sound business planning.  This ensures that we treat the areas of greatest need and slow down the deterioration of the highway network. We use the most suitable treatments where they will be most cost effectively used.

Funding

The council receives funding from central government and other sources for road repairs. In 2015 - 16 we will receive £2,251,000 from the Department for Transport. The full programme for 2015 - 16 for the next three months is shown below.
