Temporary road closure - Hessle Road between Tilbury Road and Priory Drive

Hessle Road between Tilbury Road and Priory Drive will be closed to vehicles between Monday 16 October to Friday 17 November, Monday 20 November to Friday 8 December and Monday 11 December to Friday 16 December as part of a 3 phase maintenance scheme

Phase 1 - Monday 16 October to Friday 17 November - the westbound carriageway of Hessle Road between Priory Grove and Pickering Road will be closed. The signed diversion route will be via Askew Avenue and Pickering Road. Bus services 1 and 57 will follow this route then resume normal service. For the week commencing 16 October the junction between Summergroves Way and Hessle Road will remain open to right turning traffic from Hessle road and right turning traffic from Summergroves Way. Bus service 57 will be running as usual on Summergroves Way during this week. The junction between Summergroves Way and Hessle Road will remain open to right turning traffic from Hessle road and right turning traffic from Summergroves Way. Bus service 57 will be running as usual on Summergroves Way for all three phases of these works.

Phase 2 - Monday 20 November to Friday 8 December - the westbound carriageway of Hessle Road from Pickering Road to Tilbury Road will be closed. The signed diversion route will be via Summergroves Way.Bus services 1 and 57 will follow this route. Service 57 will turn right onto Hessle Road continue to Tilbury Road and turn left to re-join normal service.

Phase 3 - Monday 11 December to Friday 16 December - the eastbound carriageway between Summergroves Way and Priory Grove will be closed. The signed diversion route will be via Pickering Road and Askew Avenue.Bus services 1 and 57 will follow this route then resume normal service.

We deal with permanent and temporary road closures to enable roadworks to be carried out. Road closures need to be applied for and go through an approval process.

We also control various public highway activities such as the placement/use of scaffolding, hoardings, containers, building materials, skips etc by issuing permits. If you wish to make an application for a permit please contact us.

We monitor and co-ordinate work carried out by the utility companies – such as Yorkshire Water, Yorkshire Electricity and Kingston Communications. This monitoring ensures a co-ordinated approach to road closures to limit the amount of disruption to road users.
