Northern area team

Orchard CentreThe Northern area, one of the seven areas of the city, is made up of the University, Orchard Park and Greenwood, and Beverley wards. It has a population of around 32,000 (1991 census).

The area team delivers council services in your area including streetcare, housing services, parks and gardens.

The team also works closely with partner organisations including Humberside Police, NHS Hull, community wardens, children and young people’s services and local community and voluntary groups, to address the issues that you tell us are your priorities.

How to get involved in your area

You can get involved in making sure your area team knows what issues matter to you and your community. You can do this by attending any of the following meetings or getting in touch with us in any way detailed at the bottom of the page.

Northern area committee

The Northern area committee is made up of seven elected councillors who make sure the council’s work is appropriate for what local people need. The meetings are open to the public. You can submit questions, in writing, to be put to the committee. This should be done in advance or on the day. Up to 15 minutes will be dedicated to responding to public questions at each meeting.

Ward and neighbourhood forums

Ward and neighbourhood forums are smaller and more informal than area committee meetings, held locally at least every three months. You can have your say on all issues affecting your neighbourhood. These issues are then dealt with by the local ward councillors, the Northern area team and our partners.

Please contact us on 01482 300 300 to find out the date of the next ward forum.

Community safety priority meetings

At a community safety priority meeting, you can have your say about what community safety measures are prioritised in your ward over the next six months. You can also find out what has been done over the previous six months to make your ward safer.
