Self and custom build housing register

The Government wants to enable more people to build their own homes. We are looking to help people who are interested in developing self or custom build homes. The Council is compiling a register of people who want to build their own homes and is intended to assist in identifying the demand for self and custom build housing. We will seek to identify suitable serviced plots of land to meet that demand. A ‘serviced plot of land’ is a plot that has access to a public highway and connections for electricity, water supply and waste water.

To be included on the Register you must be:

  • aged 18 or over
  • a British citizen, a national of an EEC State other than the UK or a national of Switzerland
  • seeking, either alone or with others, to acquire a serviced plot of land in the Hull City Council administrative area to build a house to occupy as your sole or main residence

If you are an association, each of your members must meet the above criteria.
