Fake goods

Report fake goods

If you suspect someone is selling or producing fake goods, report it to us using the online form below -

Alternatively please email tradingstandardsadvicecentre@hullcc.gov.uk. We will investigate any information provided by the public.

Reasons to avoid fake goods

Before you buy fake goods its worth remembering that -

  • as well as being poor quality they can be dangerous
  • it’s highly unlikely you will get any help if you have a problem with them
  • fake DVDs can expose children to unsuitable material
  • fake goods fund organised crime
  • people who deal in fakes don't pay taxes on the money they make harming public finances
  • manufacturers and retailers can struggle to compete with those making and selling fake goods resulting in job losses
  • legitimate businesses lose revenue which means they have less to invest in new product development

We carry out targeted inspections to combat counterfeiting and investigate any information provided by members of the public.
