Registered parks and gardens

Sites of special historical interest can be placed on the national register of parks and gardens. This list is compiled and maintained by English Heritage with the aim of identifying these sites and protecting them.

Registered parks and gardens are classified in grades to show how important they are in relation to each other. Grade I sites are of exceptional historic interest, grade II* of great historic interest, and grade II of special historic interest. This grading is not affected by any listed buildings on the site.

There are two registered parks in Hull -

These are both grade II sites. You can see the entries for these parks on the PDFs below or on the register at our offices in The Guildhall, Alfred Gelder Street.

Are registered parks and gardens protected?
There are no additional restrictions to sites on the register, but they do receive special consideration in future planning and proposals for development.

We consult the Gardens Trust on all applications that affect Hull's two registered parks. This is to ensure that we have the appropriate professional advice.
