Flood risk management

The Flood and Water Management Act 2010 introduced Local Lead Flood Authorities (LLFAs). Hull City Council is the LLFAs for Hull. LLFAs are required to -

  • prepare and maintain a strategy for local flood risk management in their areas

Access the consultation and find out how to make comments on it

  • maintain a register of assets

  • investigate significant local incidents

  • act as a Statutory Consultee for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)

  • issue consents for altering removing or replacing certain structure or featues on ordinary watercourses

  • play a lead role in emergency planning and recovery after a flood event

  • design small flood alleviation schemes

Flood Re

Flood Re is the national scheme designed to help provide better access to affordable home insurance for those in high flood-risk areas across the UK in places such as Hull . It represents a long-term, sustainable approach to providing home insurance for those at flood risk. It is important that people at high flood risk in our area shop around for the best insurance policy.
