Oil painting entitled 'The Man with the Muck Rake' by Sir Jospeh Noel Paton (1821-1901), about 1877. A Victorian religious allegory of the figure of Christ with halo around his head and hand which holds a diadem, the Virgin standing behind. Christ wears a pink robe with an outer blue robe above, his left hand rests on the shoulder of a man in ragged clothes with sack and dagger hilt and bags at his waist. Oil on canvas.
