More pupils allocated their first choice secondary school place - 01/03/18
The number of secondary school children allocated their first preference school has continued to increase.

This year, 83.04 per cent of children have been allocated their first preference school, compared to 82.16 per cent last year. Almost 93 per cent of children got one of their three preferences.

Today (Thursday 1 March) parents of almost 3,000 eleven year-olds starting secondary school this September 2018 will be allocated a school place from Hull City Council. The online application process continues to be popular with parents, 85 per cent of applications being made using this method.

Councillor Phil Webster, Portfolio Holder for Learning, Skills and Safeguarding Children, said: “I am really pleased to see that more children have been allocated their first choice secondary school in the city and 93 per cent got one for their three preferences.

“This is excellent news for parents and with the increasing number of good and outstanding schools in Hull it builds confidence in the high quality education in the city.”

Those who applied online and requested a response via email will receive an email today (1 March) confirming their allocation. All other parents and carers will also be sent a letter today (1 March). Parents have until Friday 16 March to inform us in writing if they do not wish to accept the place.

Parents have the right to appeal and have until 12 April to return their appeal forms.
