Newland Avenue roadworks to continue next week - 12/10/17
Following the temporary suspension for Hull Fair, works to Newland Avenue will resume as planned on Monday 16 October during off-peak hours.

To minimise disruption the works will be scheduled around peak time and conducted between the hours 9.30am –4pm.

Extra resources will be drafted in to ensure that there are no delays to the original timescale, and to mitigate against the impact on Beverley Road’s traffic flow.

Councillor Martin Mancey, Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Highways, said:

"Works will continue as planned and have been rescheduled to off-peak hours to minimise delays to traffic on Beverley Road, and to adhere to the planned completion date of Newland Avenue works.

“Our priority for the duration of these essential works it to cause minimum disruption, and businesses will remain open as usual for the duration of these works.

“We apologise in advance for any inconvenience incurred. It is essential these works are carried out.”

Works remaining on Newland Avenue include:

• Phase four: 16–20 October, Newland Avenue between Sidmouth Street and Walgrave Street will be closed, 9.30am – 4pm.

• Phase five – 23-27 October, overnight closures Newland Avenue/Cottingham Road junction

The signed diversion route for this phase is Queens Road, Beverley Road, Inglemire Lane and Cranbrook Avenue for northbound vehicles and vice versa.

Pedestrians can access the entire street throughout the duration of temporary closures. The road is fully open on weekends and after 4pm every night.

Advance warning signs are on display for motorists and access will be maintained at all times for emergency service vehicles, however scheduled bus services will be diverted during the hours of the closures.
