Repairs to Hessle High Road to begin this month - 06/10/17
Essential maintenance works on Hessle High Road will take place from Monday 16 October for eight weeks.

The works will take place between Priory Grove and Tilbury Road, and parts of Hessle Road will be closed to through traffic to allow these essential carriageway maintenance repairs to be carried out.

To minimise disruption to motorists and businesses, the works will be split into three phases to reduce the length of the road that is closed at any one time.

• Phase one: week commencing 16 October the junction between Summergroves Way and Hessle Road will remain open to right turning traffic from Hessle road, and right turning traffic from Summergroves Way. Bus service 57 will be running as usual on Summergroves Way during this week.
23 October – 17 November, the westbound carriageway of Hessle Road between Priory Grove and Pickering Road will be closed. The signed diversion route will be via Askew Avenue and Pickering Road.
Bus services 1 and 57 will follow this route then resume normal service.

• Phase two: 20 November – 8 December, the westbound carriageway of Hessle Road from Pickering Road to Tilbury Road will be closed. The signed diversion route will be via Summergroves Way.
Bus services 1 and 57 will follow this route. Service 57 will turn right onto Hessle Road continue to Tilbury Road and turn left to re-join normal service.

• Phase three: 11 - 16 December the eastbound carriageway between Summergroves Way and Priory Grove will be closed. The signed diversion route will be via Pickering Road and Askew Avenue.
Bus services 1 and 57 will follow this route then resume normal service.

Councillor Alan Clark, portfolio holder with responsibility for Streetscene, said:

“The closure is essential so that the works can be carried out thoroughly in order to improve the condition of the road, and ensure the highway provides a safe and even surface for traffic with adequate grip and skid resistance.

“We ask that motorists are patient and apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during the period of the works.”

Advance warning signs will be displayed for motorists and access will be maintained at all times for emergency service vehicles.
