Driving to a greener future - 29/09/17
Hull City Council has expanded its fleet of electric vehicles and added three charge points for Council vehicles in Hanover Square.

The authority has purchased another Nissan Leaf car to add to its fleet of pool cars available for staff to carry out Council duties, bringing the total number of Leaf vehicles to three. The electric cars join the Council’s wider fleet of electric vehicles that also include Nissan e-NV200 electric vans.

Councillor Martin Mancey, Portfolio Holder for Economic Investment, Regeneration and Planning said: “The Council is keen to lead by example in minimising the environmental impact of its activities, and to contribute to a cleaner environment for the future.

“By adding three more charge points for Council vehicles, and as we look towards installing public charge points in the near future, we hope to encourage more businesses and residents to consider swapping to low emission electric vehicles.”

Martin Budd, Environment and Climate Change Strategic Advisor said:

"We're in the process of ensuring the city is ready for the generation of motoring. We are looking at opportunities for additional public electric charge points, and there will be six new charge points in the refurbished Osborne Street car park, part of Hull Venue, as well as upgraded charge points in George Street car park."
