Celebrating apprenticeship success at awards ceremony - 26/09/17
Hull Training and Adult Education has recognised the achievements of apprentices, learners and businesses at their annual awards ceremony.

Learners and their employers across Business, Creative and Digital, Construction, Engineering, Manufacture, Signmaking, Health, Care, Teaching and Learning sectors celebrated for their achievements during the past year with 15 awards overall at The Guildhall, Hull on Friday 22 September.

A distinguished panel of judges, including local employers Point Engineering and DeSigns Signage Solutions Ltd, had a very difficult task filtering nominations before making their final awards selection. Irrespective of whether or not they collect an award, all the finalists are winners. Each has an inspiring story to tell, making them true ambassadors in their field.

The awards are sponsored by local companies who are all passionate about providing apprenticeship and work placements to local people. The host for the awards Blair Jacobs, was joined by a range of speakers including Emma Hardy, MP, The Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor John Hewitt, Chris Berridge, Managing Director of Paneltex and former Hull Training and Adult Education apprentice Macaulay Dunham.

Councillor Phil Webster, Portfolio Holder for Learning, Skills and Safeguarding Children, said: “These awards are a great way of celebrating the hard work of apprentices and learners who have excelled in their field, challenging themselves to learn and develop new skills.

"Businesses across the Hull and the East Riding have the opportunity to build a pool of high quality future recruits for their sector, while helping young people take their first steps toward employment.

“Our apprentices deserve to be congratulated. They are a credit to the city.”
The awards are a celebration of the successful partnership Hull Training and Adult Education have with employers and partners from across the region. Acknowledging the employers and partners who have gone the extra mile in supporting learners in the workplace. The Green Port Hull team has scooped this year’s Partners award.

Bob Ferraby, Manager for the Green Port Growth Programme Skills and Employment team, commented: “We are delighted to be recognised in this year’s awards. With the launch of Green Port Hull training initiatives, such as the Pathway to Employment programme, we are working even harder towards improving the skillset of the local workforce and ensuring the public are able to fully access the new employment opportunities.”
