Double Paralympic champion to open new cycling circuit - 27/07/17
Great Britain Cycling Team rider and double Paralympic champion Adam Duggleby MBE will officially open Hull’s new 1km closed road cycle circuit on Monday 31 July, the only such cycling facility in East Yorkshire.

Funded by British Cycling, Hull Culture and Leisure and Hull City Council, work to the purpose built closed road cycle circuit, at land adjacent to Ennerdale Leisure Centre, started in December 2016 and was completed on time.

The city’s first all-weather circuit will offer a number of loops and straight lines to help gain confidence and develop general cycling skills. The facility is fenced with ample street-level lighting offering flexible cycling, car parking and new heavy duty vertical lockers available at the leisure centre for bikes. It is available to local cycling clubs and the wider community to learn, train and compete. All in a safe, traffic-free environment.

Councillor Terry Geraghty, Hull City Council Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Tourism and Chair of Hull Culture & Leisure Limited, said: “The circuit is an expansion to the existing leisure facilities at Ennerdale Leisure Centre and will be first of its kind in the Humber region.

“We’re delighted with the support we’ve received from British Cycling and Hull City Council, we have seen other cycle circuits across the country and they have been a real success.

“The facility will be another community asset and will hopefully encourage greater participation in cycling. Building the circuit as part of the Ennerdale Leisure Centre complex is a great way to maximise the use of our leisure facilities and truly offers a great trip out for all the family.”

Various sessions will be on offer, including pay and pedal (pay as you go hourly tariffs), half and full day hire, family sessions and block bookings and cost as little as £2 per hour for juniors and £4 per hour for adults.

The cycle circuit will open to the public on Tuesday 1 August and is available for bookings between 8.30am - 9.30pm Monday – Friday and 8.30am - 4.30pm Saturday and Sunday. For more information and prices on the cycle circuit call 01482 331 136 or visit Ennerdale Leisure Centre.
