Council recognised for its green credentials for forth year running - 16/06/17
For a fourth year running Hull City Council has been commended for its Investors in the Environment (IiE) accreditation which demonstrates its firm commitment to reducing environmental impacts on the organisation.

The national recognition follows an external audit of the Council’s environmental management system and assessors have awarded the highest level of environmental accreditation.

Councillor Martin Mancey, Portfolio Holder for Energy City, said:

“The Council is fully committed to improving energy efficiency in order to protect our environment. In the last few years we have worked hard to reduce our carbon emissions by investing in a range of projects to decrease our energy use from the grid. We have a range of environmental goals that not only focuses on our own impact such as recycling, waste and carbon emissions, but also initiatives to help local communities and support individuals and businesses city-wide to make greener choices.”

The Council lead for Environment and Climate Change Strategy, Martin Budd, was also awarded the Green Champion accolade for work on carbon reporting and climate adaptation.

Martin said:

“As an authority it is important that we show we are leading the way in making positive changes to reduce carbon emissions. By doing so, we hope that other Hull organisations will make similar changes so that we have a positive impact on the environment.”
