Decision record notification – Woodford Improvements - 28/04/17
Hull City Council has today published a decision record confirming that Woodford Leisure Centre will be re-roofed during the current extension project.

The work will take place following a report that found the existing roof to be leaking in several places and in need of significant repair.

A number of options were explored by current contractors Hobson and Porter and the preferred option will be to replace the roof with a ‘like for like’ thermally broke aluminium glazing bar system that will prove most financially viable option and is the most robust.

The decision to complete this work during the current programme will mean further closures will not be required in the future and the centre will re-open to the public as planned in 2018.

The cost of the work will include contributions from the health budget, Hull Culture and Leisure and corporate buildings budgets, as well as spend-to-save borrowing and will carry a 20 year warranty.

Work will continue with the extension and revamp of Woodford including the creation of a six-lane, 25m swimming pool with attached learner pool and improved changing and catering facilities, following demolition of existing entrance area.

Car parking will be relocated to provide additional spaces and the main catering facility will relocate from the first floor to the ground floor, front of house, ensuring that the offer is easily accessible to the public.

Proposals will also see a new sauna and steam room installed, enhancing Woodford’s offer further.
