More pupils allocated their first choice primary school place - 18/04/17
The number of primary school children allocated their first preference school has increased.

This year, 94 per cent of children have been allocated their first preference school, compared to 87 per cent last year. Almost 98 per cent of children got one of their three preferences.

Today (Tuesday 18 April) parents of nearly 3,161* four year-olds starting primary school this September 2017 will be allocated a school place from Hull City Council.

The online application process continues to be extremely popular with parents. 79 per cent of applications being made using this method compared to 34 per cent last year.

Councillor Phil Webster, Portfolio Holder for Learning, Skills and Safeguarding Children, said: “It is fantastic that 94 per cent of the 3,161 applications have been allocated their first preference primary school place. It is also really encouraging that so many parents and carers are applying online."

Those who applied online and requested a confirmation email will receive their email on 18 April informing them of their allocated school. All other parents and carers will be sent a letter on 18 April. Parents have until 5 May to inform us in writing if they do not wish to accept the place.

Any parent who isn’t allocated one of their preferred schools will be offered the right of appeal and appeal forms and guidance will be sent to parents with their allocation letter. The completed forms should be returned to the admissions team by 22 May.
