More pupils allocated their first choice secondary school place - 01/03/17
The number of secondary school children allocated their first preference school has increased.

This year, 82.16 per cent of children have been allocated their first preference school, compared to 80.9 per cent last year. Almost 94 per cent of children got one of their three preferences.

Today (Wednesday 1 March) parents of nearly 3,010* eleven year-olds starting secondary school this September 2017 will be allocated a school place from Hull City Council.

The online application process continues to be extremely popular with parents, 86 per cent of applications being made using this method compared to 31 per cent last year.

Councillor Phil Webster, Portfolio Holder for Learning, Skills and Safeguarding Children, said: ""I am delighted that 94 per cent of the 3,010 children have been allocated a secondary school place. I would like to thank all the parents/carers for their applications and it is fantastic to see so many of them applying online, a more cost-effective and efficient method.

""Our Admissions Team are constantly striving to improve the figures even further and they do an incredible job to allocate school places, despite the pressure on places across the city even more children than before have been offered their first preference.""

Those who applied online will receive an email on 1 March confirming their allocation. All other parents and carers will be sent a letter on 1 March. Parents have until 16 March to inform us in writing if they do not wish to accept the place.
