Changes to Household Waste and Recycling Centres - 28/11/16
Hull City Council's Cabinet has today (Monday 28 November) given the go-ahead for the city's three Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRC) to be closed for two days a week.

Following a public consultation, it was found that residents preferred the Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRC) to be closed for two days a week, as opposed to the permanent closure of one site.

The centres at Sutton Fields, Wiltshire Road and Burma Drive will close for two days a week, with effect from mid-2017.

Councillor John Black, Portfolio Holder with responsibility for waste management, said:

""Unfortunately we need to make these necessary savings, and the preference of our residents is to close the HWRCs for two days a week, saving the service around £100k per year.""

The centres are operated by the FCC Environment who will now undertake a formal process of staff consultation on any impact the closures will have.

The centres are open from 10am - 5pm for Hull residents. Residents should display the pass provided to all households by the Council in the annual recycling and waste information pack sent out in the last month. The pass which looks like a tax disc should be displayed in their car window or on the dashboard when visiting the centres.

Alternatively, if a pass hasn't been received or has been lost, residents can use the centres by showing proof of address in Hull in the form of a utility bill or driving licence.
