Consultation for Hull's Local Plan launched - 27/06/16
The seven week public consultation for Hull's new Local Plan has launched (Monday 20 June).

The Local Plan will affect where new houses, shops and businesses are built, and what measures will be taken to protect the natural and historic environment and provide policies to protect heritage assets until 2032.

The consultation, which runs until Monday 8 August, gives people the chance to have their say about these proposals, which is an important planning document that will influence how the city develops over the next 15 years.

The Hull Local Plan is separate to the ongoing City Plan's Destination Hull project which is seeing multi-million pound investments being delivered in our cultural and tourism infrastructure.

Councillor Martin Mancey, Portfolio Holder for Energy City, said: ""The Local Plan is a new planning strategy for the city. It sets out how the city will grow and change over the next fifteen years. The Plan is being drawn up in consultation with the city's residents, its communities, businesses and organisations.

""The last Local Plan was adopted in 2000 and whilst it provided an excellent framework for the city, it now needs updating.""

Alex Codd, City Planning Manager, added: ""We welcome comments and views on the Local Plan. It is an important document for the city. This is a great chance for residents and businesses to make a real difference and help make Hull a great place to live, work and visit.""

As part of the consultation, there will be consultation events for people to find out more:
  • Local Plan Forum - 10am to 12.30pm, Monday 18 July, Guildhall;
  • Drop-In sessions at Hull Central Library:
    - Tuesday 28 June, 10am-12pm
    - Wednesday 29 June, 2-4pm
    - Thursday 30 June, 5pm-7pm
    - Tuesday 12 July, 2-4pm
    - Wednesday 13 July, 5-7pm
    - Thursday 14 July, 10am-12pm

    The consultation document and response forms will also be available in Council libraries, Customer Service Centres, History Centre, Wilson Centre, Guildhall reception and online: or at ward events around the city.

    Once the seven week public consultation is complete the Hull Local Plan will then be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate for Examination.
